This Black History Month, we honor the incredible contributions of Black pioneers in the health field who have changed the world with their groundbreaking work.
Dr. Patricia Bath was an ophthalmologist, inventor, and advocate for blindness prevention who revolutionized eye care as the inventor of the Laserphaco Probe. Her invention transformed cataract surgery and restored sight to millions. She was also the first Black female doctor to receive a medical patent, breaking barriers for future generations.
Dr. Charles Drew was a physician, surgeon and medical researcher who revolutionized blood banking, pioneering methods for preserving and storing blood plasma. His innovations led to the creation of modern blood donation systems, saving countless lives worldwide.
Their legacies remind us of the brilliance, resilience, and impact of Black innovators in healthcare. Telligen is proud to celebrate, uplift, and support their achievements and continues to advocate for equal access to healthcare for all individuals through our health equity efforts.
